Tips on Home Health Notices of Admission (HH NOAs)
Effective January 1, 2022, the HH NOA replaced the HH Request for Anticipated Payment (RAP). To avoid claim errors, please remember the following:
- RAPs will not be accepted for dates of service (DOS) on or after January 1, 2022.
- NOAs will not be accepted prior to January 1, 2022.
- NOAs with future dates will not be accepted.
- Billing guidance for periods of care that continue from 2021 to 2022 can be found in the Billing the Home Health Notice of Admission (NOA) job aid.
NOTE: This job aid will be updated to reflect the following Fiscal Intermediary Standard System (FISS) logic changes implemented on January 3, 2022.
- The FISS Direct Data Entry (DDE) Claim Entry screens will NOT allow information to be keyed in the following fields:
MAP 1711 – Claim Page 1
- Type
- Source
- Patient Status
- Occurrence Span Codes/Dates
- Value Codes/Amounts
MAP 1712 – Claim Page 2
- Revenue Codes
- HCPCS Codes
- Modifiers
- Rates
- Total Units
- Covered Units
- Total Charges
- Covered Charges
- Non-Covered Charges
- Service Date
- Patient Name: Enter the number of characters allowed in the patient's last name (as it appears on their Medicare card) in the Last Name field. Enter the number of characters allowed in the patient's first name (as it appears on their Medicare card) in the First Name field.
