Attention: Part A Outpatient Prior Authorization Inquiries
Part A hospital outpatient departments (OPDs) are required to obtain prior authorization for certain services performed in that setting. When Part A OPDs asks a Part B provider to contact the CGS Part A Provider Call Center to check the status of a prior authorization request, The Part B provider must have the following for authentication purposes:
- Part A OPD’s Provider Transaction Access Number (PTAN)
- Part A OPD’s National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Last 5 digits of the Part A OPD’s tax ID
- The patient’s Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI)
- Beneficiary First and Last Name
- Beneficiary Date of Birth
