December 7, 2020 – Updated 12.03.22
December 5th-9th is National Influenza Vaccination Week
National Influenza Vaccination Week emphasizes the importance of influenza (flu) vaccinations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends all people over the age of 6 months (with a few exceptions) receive an influenza vaccine during the flu season. It is especially important for those with chronic conditions to receive one as they are more at risk for serious complications if they get the flu.
Flu vaccines may decrease the amount of missed time for work and/or school due to illness. They can also assist with preventing flu-related hospitalizations and deaths. Protection can fade over time, so it is important to encourage your patients to obtain a flu shot every flu season.
Per the CDC's Frequently Asked Influenza (Flu) Questions: 2022-2023 Season | CDC, your patients may receive their flu shot at the same time as their COVID-19 vaccine. Talk to your patients about the importance of getting both important vaccinations.
