New Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Resources for Part A Providers
Submitting Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) claims correctly is often a challenging task for providers. To assist providers, CGS now offers MSP billing resources on our website. Please share the following information with your appropriate staff, especially billing staff.
MSP billing resources can be accessed on the J15 Part A website by selecting the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) link found under the Claims tab or by selecting Browse by Topic and clicking on the MSP link.
The following billing resources are now available:
- Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Overview – This Web page provides an overview of MSP and offers information about identifying MSP records, submitting MSP claims to Medicare, MSP billing resources and suspended MSP claims. Various other Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and CGS resources are also listed.
- CMS Guidelines and Resources for Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) – On this Web page you will find links to CMS MSP guidelines and resources.
- Submitting Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Claims and Adjustments – This page provides information about how to submit your MSP claims and how to report CAS information, along with screen prints. Links are also provided to the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Billing and Adjustments quick resource tool and online tool (see below).
