CWF Hospice Periods Now Available on the Fiscal Intermediary Standard System (FISS) Direct Data Entry (DDE)

The July 2018 quarterly system release, which was implemented on July 2, 2018, included changes to the FISS DDE Inquiry Beneficiary/CWF (Option 10) screen. Previously CGS only provided information about Map1751 where you enter the beneficiary Medicare number, last name, first name, sex, and date of birth. CGS encouraged providers to obtain beneficiary eligibility information by using the CWF ELGA/ELGH eligibility screens. However, now Option 10 includes Common Working File (CWF) eligibility information. Follow the steps below:

From the FISS DDE Main Menu (MAP1701), select "01" Inquiries.
From the Inquiry Menu (MAP1702), select "10" Beneficiary/CWF.
Enter the beneficiary's Medicare number in the HIC field.
Enter the beneficiary's last name in the LN field.
Enter the beneficiary's first name in the FN field.
Enter the beneficiary's gender in the SEX field.
Enter the beneficiary's date of birth (MMDDCCYY) in the DOB field.
Press the Enter key. The beneficiary's address, Part A and Part B effective dates will display.
Press the F8 key to access the next screen (Map1752).
Press the F8 key again to access eligibility information from CWF. Map1757 will display.

Note: Map1751 and Map1752 are FISS records. The remaining pages that display are CWF records.
To reach the CWF Hospice Periods screen, continue to press the F8 key until you reach MAP175I.

The CWF Hospice Period screen displays the START DATE 2, PROV 2, INTER 2 fields when a Hospice Notice of Transfer (type of bill 8XC) is processed.

NOTE: The Medicare Learning Network (MLN)® article SE18007 External PDF indicates that when a revocation follows a transfer, the From date on the Notice of Termination/Revocation (NOTR) (type of bill 8XB) must match the START DATE 2 on the benefit period that initiated the transfer.
