WISeR Tips & Tricks: Week 1
After 3 full days of receiving and processing prior authorization requests (PARs) for WISeR, Innovaccer would like to share the following tips and tricks that will help providers optimize their experience. As a reminder, providers can reach Innovaccer directly via email (ohcmswiser-inquiry@innovaccer.com) or phone (202.796.1619).
- ONLY submit procedure codes from Appendix A. When submitting, do not include Associated Codes from Appendix B or include any modifiers. This will potentially trigger a Dismissal for Invalid WISeR CPT/HCPCS. Make sure you are using the most recent version of the WISeR Model Provider and Supplier Operational Guide
published on December 23, 2025. - If faxing or mailing, complete the PAR 457 using the PDF Fill feature. Avoiding handwritten submissions will help ensure accuracy in processing.
- When entering the Medicare Beneficiary Name, only include First Name and Last Name. Do not include Middle Initial. This can cause issues when Innovaccer verifies eligibility with HETS.
- Be sure to complete the DOS field even if the service or item is not yet scheduled. Provide a date of service that is your best estimate but note that the Affirmed UTN is valid for 120 days from the Determination Letter Date. If the DOS changes from what was originally submitted, there should be no issues as long as it is within 120 days from the letter date.
- Facility PTAN is required.
- If you receive a Provisional Affirmation, this means you can move forward with scheduling and providing the service. When billing, include the UTN on the claim. This will allow the claim to bypass prepayment claim review for medical necessity. All other billing policies will still apply.
- If you do not receive a response within 3 calendar days, please contact us via email (ohcmswiser-inquiry@innovaccer.com) or phone (202.796.1619).
