Welcome
Purpose and Goals
The primary function of the Advisory Group is to assist the contractor in the creation, implementation, and review of provider education strategies and efforts. The Advisory Group provides input and feedback on training topics, provider education materials, and dates and locations of provider education workshops and events. The group also identifies salient provider education issues and recommends effective means of information dissemination to all appropriate providers and their staff, including the use of the Provider Contact Center (PCC) to disseminate information to providers.
Response to feedback related to inquiries submitted to the PCC rather than to POE via email or Advisory Group: Please continue to contact the PCC initially. If you do not receive a resolution, you may then contact POE for assistance. Please include a PCC reference number with your POE request to assist us in providing education both internally and to the provider community.
Current Tasks
The meeting began with CGS welcoming new members to the 2026-2027 Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Group. Some members are new, while other members are returning members from previous versions of the group. We reviewed member responsibilities along with MAC responsibilities for both sides to understand the purpose and functionality of the group.
Education Feedback
- CGS asked members for feedback on educational offerings dating back to January 2026. Members stated that the education offered is consistent and well done. Education referenced included A Beginner's Guide to Medicare, WISeR Model education sessions, and Direct Data Entry to name a few. Members stated the education is great for seasoned Medicare providers along with newcomers. Members did ask if registration could be placed in the portal since a lot of providers use it. Providers asked for more education on the following topics.
- WISeR Model
- E&M Coding
- Prior Authorization for Ohio ASCs
We shared with providers upcoming education scheduled for both WISeR and Prior Authorization for Ohio ASCs.
Current Topics
WISeR Model
- CGS shared information on the CMS WISeR model which began January 15th, 2026. Information included the ability to submitting directly to the model participant; Innovaccer, through their portal, located on their website, innovaccer.com/resources/cms-wiser/oh
. CGS and POE AG Members also talked through pain points of the pilot project. CGS reminded the OH providers if they would like more information on this to visit the CMS website and be on the lookout for education offered by Provider Outreach and Education.
ASC Prior Authorization
- CGS discussed the Ambulatory Surgical Center Prior Authorization program that began February 15th, 2026. Prior authorization helps Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) providers ensure that their services comply with applicable Medicare coverage, coding, and payment rules before services are rendered and before claims are submitted for payment. We reiterated that program is just for Ohio Part B providers only. CGS did review resources available to help providers on the group and other ASC providers they may come in contact with.
Greenmail
- CGS explained the upcoming change for myCGS users dealing with Green Mail and paper correspondence. CGS explained how the correspondence can be found in myCGS and informed providers this will also be discussed on the myCGS Lunch and Learn scheduled for April 14th. Members were encouraged to register for this event.
