MBI Lookup Tool

Are your Medicare beneficiaries still presenting the old Medicare Card?  The MBI Lookup Tool can help.

Most Medicare beneficiaries have received their new MBI card, but some beneficiaries may still present the old one.  You can use the myCGS web portal to verify if the card has been issued and get the new MBI by providing some specific information.

To look up MBIs using the myCGS web portal, you will need the beneficiary’s first and last name, along with their date of birth, and social security number.  myCGS will return one of two responses.  If the new card has been issued, myCGS will display the beneficiary’s name with the MBI.  If not, you will receive a message indicating the new Medicare card has not yet been mailed.

The transition period for using either the HICN based Medicare number or the new MBI ends January 1, 2020.  After that date, only the MBI will be accepted.  Don’t wait until the transition period ends, use the MBI Lookup Tool in myCGS to obtain your beneficiary’s new MBI today!
